Quote of the Week: Edith Schaeffer

I’ve been reading Mrs. Schaeffer’s The Hidden Art of Homemaking, and I really appreciate her emphasis on bringing God glory in every single thing you do. Whether you’re painting your house, playing with your children, baking bread, or showing hospitality to strangers, all of that can either be done in a way that’s resentful or that’s joyful and brings greater beauty to the world. We as Christians should be creative, she says, because our heavenly Father is creative. And she includes in that creativity a desire to be with others from other cultures (diversity), a desire to make music and art, a desire to appreciate nature, etc.

I hope that I don’t begin to stagnate, but that I will always keep a sense of wonder and a desire to learn from others!
