Grieving with Brussels

Today, March 22, 2016, is another incredibly sad day as ISIS claims credit for a brutal attack i2000px-flag_of_belgium-svgn Brussels, Belgium. Two bombs went off in the airport (police detonated a third bomb), killing 11 and wounding 81. (BBC) An explosion on the Metro public transport system killed and wounded many more. People began posting photos of the attack on social media, and the as the rest of the world woke up we woke to those photos. Police are still working on figuring out who is actually responsible as families grieve for at least thirty people who have been murdered (numbers haven’t been verified yet as the injured are being cared for).

We grieve with them. It’s so hard to believe that humans would have a desire to kill other humans.

Proof, I guess, that there is a lot of sin in this world.

“…cursed is the ground because of you [Adam];
    in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;
    and you shall eat the plants of the field.
By the sweat of your face
    you shall eat bread,
till you return to the ground,
    for out of it you were taken;
for you are dust,
    and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:17-19

May the light of the gospel change the hearts of those who want to kill and destroy, and may the same light bring hope and healing to those who are hurting right now.

I’m so sorry, people of Brussels. So very sorry.
